2009-03-19 : Service Upgrade Date
The new features and enhancements in this service upgrade are:
Adding to the existing 'Classic' range of built-in buttons we have now introduced a new sleek modern range of built-in buttons called the 'Identity' range.
If you prefer them to the current ecommerce buttons you have on your site you can quickly have an ecommerce make-over and switch over to the new buttons without changing anything on your website (the beauty of the ShopIntegrator ecommerce plugins!). If you change your mind, you can switch back just as easily!
(i) In the admin console go to the Content Menu > Appearance Manager
(ii) In the Shop Button's Colour Scheme, if you have the ShopIntegrator Button Images radio button selected you will see the new Identity buttons.
(iii) Click on the radio button below the ecommerce button image scheme you want, then click on the Save All Changes button at the bottom of the page.
(iv) Look at your website (or refresh your website page if you already have it open) to see the new button scheme in place.
We place great importance on ensuring the quality of exchange rate data used by the ShopIntegrator service for multi-currency pricing. We've added a forth data feed to source exchange rate data from the European Central Bank so that we are able to compare the rates from multiple providers as part of our data quality checks. We source and compare exchange rates from the following international sources: European Central Bank, Bloomberg (USA), OANDA.com (USA) and Bank of Canada. [For further details on these sources and how ShopIntegrator sources its exchange rates, click here]
To view the current active exchange rates in use for multi-currency pricing foreign exchange rate conversions, go to your admin console Financial menu > Foreign Exchange Rates page.
To start using multi-currency pricing and accepting payments in foreign currencies go to your admin console then:
(i) Go to the Financial Menu > Currency Manager.
- Choose the currencies you want to allow shoppers to view your website prices in and be able to pay you in on checkout (your payment gateway will convert the customer payment back to your primary currency for you).
- Add your chosen currencies from the Inactive Currencies list to the Active Secondary currency list
(ii) Go to the My Shop menu > Add Ecommerce To Your Website
Step 1 - Choose the 'Add a shop control button, e.g. Checkout, Change Currency'
Step 2 - Choose the 'Change Currency Control' and proceed with the remaining steps to add the ecommerce plugin on to your web page(s). Your shoppers will then be able to pick their currency from the ones you have made available to them and view your entire website's prices in their own currency.
Based on our affiliate's feedback we have further improved some of the graphics for the shopper stage in the checkout process and improved the clarity of what the shopper needs to click on to move on to the final payment stage in their order.
The original checkout process screens were designed with larger computer displays in mind, making it trickier to use for shoppers using smaller screen devices such as the iPhone/iTouch.
Without impacting shoppers using larger displays we have now optimised the checkout process to automatically detect the user is viewing your site with an iPhone/iTouch so it opens the shopping basket in a size suitable to their screen. The content of the checkout process has also been optimised so that it compacts together nicely to fit as much on their screen without compromising clarity or layout style.
The 'Interactive Table Of Products In Category' previously had a fixed width. Now you have greater control when placing each table in to your webpage because you may override the default table width with a custom width setting in pixels or as a percentage.
Using the admin console My Shop menu, Add Ecommerce To Your Website, follow the steps below:
Step 1 - Choose the 'Sell a whole list of products belonging to a category'
Step 2 - Product Category - pick one of your product categories containing the list of products you want to sell.
Step 3 - Choose the 'Interactive Table Of Products In Category' and then set your required custom width parameter, clicking on the Apply Changes button in that section to see the result. Proceed with the remaining steps to add the ecommerce plugin on to your web page(s).
